about

This skit has been made a few years ago, in 1999. The voice and the words are Jean Cocteau (painter, philosopher, poet,
movie director, writer, member of the Académie Française... 1889/1922) taken from"Mon testament pour l'an 2000"
(My Legacy for 2000), a monologue he recorded for my generation. I was 19 at that time and I was amazed to hear
this at the dawn of the new millenium,I had to make my own version of it. After a little chop it goes like this :

“My head must work at the same time as my hand / and my hand must serve this mysterious character who lives inside me and which I do not know /
the people think I get tired / i am not because / these are my hands that works / my hands that become intelligent / and this character who lives inside me is a timeless character / I barely know him / I’m just a medium / there is a great technique / a kind of superior mathematics / of supreme language /
very obscur and impossible to decipher / the control is very dangerous and / the mistakes are the real features of the character / our inspiration does not come from the sky, inspiration should be called expiration / it is something that comes out of our depth / of our night / and at the beginning there is always a man alone who create and who is oblivion.”
